Step 1 - Get Ready
So you’ve volunteered to organize the Messianic Passover Seder.  What an awesome and blessed task.  You get the
applause if everything goes smoothly.   And if it doesn’t…well…but don’t even think about that.  Of course it will go
smoothly. Remember we do over one hundred Passover seders a year, so just follow our instructions and everything
will be fine.  So lets get started!  First, you will need to understand the four elements of management –
Recruit,
Educate, Motivate, and Delegate!

Recruiting

You probably already know the people you can approach and count on for help.  Remember for a large group – the
more the merrier.  Call together your group of volunteers for a meeting after services or at someone’s home over
dessert or try some of the recipes that you will be serving – A taste is worth a thousand words.  (That will keep you
from getting hungry as you discuss the delicious Passover menu).

Educating

Why not start by reading the Passover story from Exodus starting at chapter 7, and the “Last Supper Account” in the
Gospels.  It might be helpful to attack the task of preparing for Passover when the meaning of the preparation is
understood.  Pass out a sheet of paper that each volunteer can write down their name phone numbers and e-mail
addresses (so much faster than snail mail) and how they want to help.  Give copies of the recipes and a time schedule
of how and when everyone will need to be there to give enough time for cooking, setting up, and to cover any last
minute details.

Motivating

Some of the guidelines need to be strictly followed.  For example, the Bible is very clear to say that leavened products
are off limits at Passover.  Choose your menu – A suggested dinner menu has been provided.  Sharing with your
volunteers the joy people will receive from sharing in the Seder will be motivational as well.

Delegating

This is the most important of all.  Don’t assume the entire burden of this project.  Some of your volunteers will be
shoppers, prepare the food, servers; others will help set- up and then clean-up.  Decide in advance what part you wish
to play in this procedure and be sure to delegate the rest.  Remember you are the conductor not the entire orchestra!
Please remember that though the details are important,
it is the attitude of your heart that matters most.
